Blending Features
A variable speed control allows the blending of mixtures of varying consistency. When blending smoothies, starting off in a low speed allows the produce to be broken down thoroughly before you ramp the speed up to get that smooth consistency. Low speed is also essential for making recipes like hummus, guacamole and chunky salsas; as the ingredients are not thrown around by the blades starting up at a high speed.
The Omega BL630 blender also has an 'Infinity Speed Control' button which automatically ramps the speed up and down. This is great for getting really smooth results because as it drops down to a lower speed, it allows the ingredients to return back down to the blades before taking off again at high speed to ensure all the mixture is evenly blended. This process also eliminates the need for a tamper to push the ingredients onto the blades.
It also features a countdown timer and a pulse function.
Build Quality
As we first took this out of the box, we could tell the Omega BL630 blender was an extremely well built machine before we even began to use it. The 2 litre (64 oz) jug itself is made from BPA Free co-polyester and has a real sturdy feel to it with Omega claiming it to be shatterproof. The blending assembly is also quite substantial and made from stainless steel. These heavy duty blades allow ingredients like seeds, grain and ice to be thoroughly blended without problem.
The 1400 watt motor whilst being more powerful than the Vitamix Total Nutrition Centre is slightly less powerful then the Blendtec Total Blender but this doesn't seem to to matter as it still delivers 3 Peak Horsepower at the shaft. We're pretty convinced that the Omega blender gives better results than both the alternatives.

What is BPA Free?
BPA (Bisphenol-A) is a cancer-causing industrial chemical used to make polycarbonate plastic, epoxy resins and other products. It was found to leach out from many food and beverage containers including those used by our babies and children. BPA Free means that there is no Bisphenol-A in the material used in the Omega Blender jug.
